🏺 The First Olympic Games
B1 · үг дээр дар = толь · ✨ = задлан

Almost three thousand years ago, the Greek city of Olympia held a famous festival of sport. Athletes came from every Greek city to compete for a single prize: a crown of olive leaves. There were no medals, no money only honor.

The first recorded games in 776 BC had only one event: a running race. Later the Greeks added wrestling, boxing, long jump, and chariot racing. During the games, all wars between Greek cities had to stop. This peace was called the Olympic truce.

The ancient games continued for more than a thousand years. In 1896, the modern Olympic Games were born in Athens. Today more than two hundred countries compete but the idea is still the same: peace through sport.
